Instructor:  Rosalie Williams

Saturday March 6 and Sunday March 7

This 2-day hands-on workshop runs from 9:00 am – 4 pm each day and will provide you with the basics for spinning your own yarn.  There is no prerequisite except for a love of fiber and color. You’ll learn about different spinning fibers, how they are carded and prepared, as well as how to draft the fibers to spin a colorful yarn. Soon you’ll be making unique yarns for knitting, crocheting and other textile crafts. If time permits, we’ll do some microwave dyeing. All handouts and workshop materials are included in the fee. Bring your own spinning wheel which MUST be in good working order with 3 bobbins and a lazy kate. If you don’t have access to a WORKING spinning wheel, contact Rosalie at 250 260 3387 at least 2 weeks prior to the course to arrange for weekend rental (for an additional $35).  On the final day, Rosalie will demonstrate how to set up a working loom.

Saturday 10:00am – 4:00 pm As people arrive, they’ll set up their machines.  Janet will consult with each person at that time, find out what their plans might be and offer suggestions if necessary.  Once they get going, teaching or suggesting techniques will be demonstrated as required.

At various points during the day Janet will be calling the group together to see what everyone is doing so that they can learn from each other. Materials list on registration.
