OIL PAINTING FOR THE ABSOLUTE BEGINNER
This weekend workshop is geared to the beginner who has never painted before, but would like to find out if oil painting is for them. Have some fun and discover a rewarding hobby. You will leave with a painting. No experience is needed.

POTTERY CLASS FOR BEGINNERS
If you’ve never tried working with clay or would like to have a refresher course then this class is for you. Come and learn some of the skills and techniques when working with clay including pinch, coil and slab construction.

CREATING AN OIL PAINTING USING A PHOTOGRAPHIC REFERENCE
You will paint your own canvas using a favourite photograph. Cecilia will be working individually with you as you work out your composition and painting. This is great timing to produce your own gift for a Christmas present.
Prerequisite: Completion of Absolute beginners course or sample of completed oil painting.

CONTINUING POTTERY
This class is for students who have taken a previous clay class at the Visual Arts Centre or by permission of the instructor. You will refine hand building skills and explore specific projects in clay. Surface decoration and application of colored slips will be explored.

BEGINNER STAINED GLASS
This class teaches you all the basics of copper foil construction including several techniques that make stained glass fun and easy to learn. Topics covered include glass selection, pattern preparation, advanced glass cutting techniques, and how to reinforce, clean and hang projects. All participants will have ready access to good quality tools and materials to complete a project. This course has been extremely popular in the past and early registration is advisable.

SILK PAINTING WORKSHOP
This workshop is open to beginners and people with silk painting experience who would like an opportunity to develop a project of their choice. The workshop will begin on a Friday evening to either plan and prepare your piece and be completed on Saturday or to learn basic silk painting techniques. The class fee covers studio time, access to design material, equipment, dyes and steaming. Silk for your project will be available to purchase at cost.

FELTING WORKSHOP
Come and explore wet felt making methods using un-spun, loose fibers and create a wall hanging. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing you don’t mind getting wet! Additional felting kits will be available for purchase at the end of the course.

SILK PAINTING FOR GREETING CARDS
A repeat of last year’s successful class where you will make some exquisite Greeting cards to give to the very special people in your life. In the first session we will use a variety of techniques to colour the silk and in the second session use the fabric to make cards.
