INTRODUCTION  TO GLASS MAKING

This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of glass making and make some glass beads. All materials and equipment will be provided. 

You will need to wear old, non flammable clothing and shoes (no open toes).

Date: Saturday 1st October 2011 (Further classes can be arranged by request)

Times: 10.30a.m. – 2.30p.m.

Cost including materials: $150

ART CLASSES FOR CHILDREN

Local talented artist Nicola McGarry will be offering three different art workshops for children aged 7 – 12 years of age. All supplies included. Children will need a snack and packed lunch. Wear old clothes!

Sunday 2nd October 10.00a.m. – 4.00 p.m. PAINTING

Sunday 6th November 10.00a.m. – 4.00p.m.PRINTING

Sunday 4th December 10.00a.m. – 4.00p.m.CARD  MAKING

Class fee : $65 for each class. All materials included.

POTTERY CLASS FOR BEGINNERS

If you’ve never tried working with clay or would like to have a refresher course then this class is for you. Come and learn some of the skills and techniques when working with clay including pinch, coil and slab construction.

Date: Start October 5th.  7 sessions (register by September 28th )

Time: Tuesdays 6.00 – 9.00p.m.

Course fee $185 ( includes one sleeve of clay)

CONTINUING POTTERY

This class is for students who have taken a previous clay class at the Visual Arts Centre or by permission of the instructor. You will refine hand building skills and explore specific projects in clay. Surface decoration and application of colored slips will be explored.

Date : Start October 7th  .  7 sessions (register by September 28th)

Time : Thursdays 6.00 – 9.00p.m

Course fee $185 (reduction for members of Revelstoke Potters Guild) Includes one sleeve of clay.

10 MEDIA DRAWING

Explore the traits of 10 different dry and wet media on various grounds. Experimentation is the emphasis while learning basic drawing skills.

Date: Saturday October 15th and Sunday 16th. 10 am-12 pm and 1 pm-3 pm

Cost including all materials: $200

TILE PAINTING FOR ADULTS

Paint your own 6x6" glazed  tile workshop.  Your finished tile will be fired and framed with  a wood frame supplied by Ken Talbot.  

Date: Thursday October 20th 7.00 – 9.00p.m.

Cost: $20 including materials.

TILE PAINTING FOR CHILDREN

Following a very successful workshop in the summer we are pleased to offer a further paint your own 6x6" glazed  tile workshop for children aged 6 – 12 years of age.  Your finished tile will be fired and framed with  a wood frame supplied by Ken Talbot.

OIL PAINTING FOR THE ABSOLUTE BEGINNER

This course is especially for the beginner who has never painted before. You will learn how to use your supplies, create a composition, colour theory and mixing, basic techniques and clean up. You will complete a painting by the end of the course. No experience is needed.

Date: Friday 21st October 7.00 – 9.00p.m. Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd

Class fee :$130 (plus materials)

SILK PAINTING FOR GREETING CARDS (for adults and children 10+ years old)

A repeat of this very successful class where you will make some exquisite Greeting cards to give to the very special people in your life. In the first session we will use a variety of techniques to colour  silk and in the second session use the fabric to make cards. No experience necessary.

November 2nd and 9th.  (Wednesdays) 

Time: 6.00p.m. – 9.30p.m.

Class fee : $65. All materials supplied to make 10 cards.

OIL PAINTING WEEKEND WORKSHOP- THE NEXT STEP

This is a beginner’s workshop where you will work on your own painting using a favorite photograph. You will learn how to eliminate the extraneous details, mix the right colours, and create a beautiful canvas.

Prerequisite: the ABSOLUTE BEGINNER’S oil painting course, or good prior knowledge of oil painting.

Date: Friday November 4th 7– 9.00p.m. Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th November 9. – 4.00

ABSTRACT  PAINTING WITH ACRYLICS

 Acrylics are an excellent choice for the experimentation of abstract painting.  Learn different abstract techniques from art history or make up your own!!  No Experience Necessary!

Date: Saturday November 19th and Sunday 20th. 10 am-12 pm and 1 pm-3 pm
